Interview, spotlight AND giveaway with M.A. Abraham

(Be sure to scroll to bottom after getting to know M.A. and enter the giveaway! Also be sure to join in on the fun at her Facebook event HERE! Even more AWESOME prizes to be won!! Good luck)

A.R. Hello M.A. thank you for visiting my blog and dealing with my randomness. I’m beyond happy to have you hear my friend! Now let the silliness commence! Oh and the questions J (only comment here if you’d like to).
Honored to be here, thank you for asking… and yes, I can do silly.

A.R.  Can you fake any accents?
I was told I sometimes sound like I come from Northern London (and no, I don’t know if that is good or bad)

A.R. Do you prefer card games or board games?
Depends on the game :D

A.R. Do you do dance crazy when no one is looking?
Does Snoopy dances count?  Never mind, I do that when people are looking too.

A.R. If you throw a Blue stone into the blue sea what it will become?
A blue stone in a blue sea.

A.R. What mythical creature would you want to be?
Right about now Elves sound like a good bet.  They live for thousands of years and don’t have to make excuses for the mischief they get into.

A.R. My favorite unusual food combination is:
Dill pickle chips and cherry coke?

A.R. Of all of the Gilligan's Island characters, I am most like (and tell us why):
There are times I can be like several of them… the professor, always looking for answers… Gilligan, I can be comical as well as a ditz if I am too far into a storyline and not watching what is going on around me.  The skipper, because ditzs frustrate me.

A.R. What is your favorite holiday (if you celebrate)?
Christmas… love the lights and the music.

A.R. What is something you cannot live without?
Can it be more than one?  Sunshine and sleep… if only one, humor.

A.R. Do you have nicknames?
A few… rolling eyes… The Godmother… Mistress of Ambush… The Auntie

A.R. Pen or pencil?
Pen… pencil rubs on on other paper and the side of my hand.

A.R. Do you have any pets?
One Snoop cat (Seal Point Siamese )

A.R. Do you have a favorite character from any of your works? Why?
Depends on what I am writing.  Favorite all the time as in one of?  No.

A.R. Do you have any projects in the works right now? Can you tell us about them?
I have several on the go.  I am working on Return of the Legend, book 5 of the Elven Chronicles… Embracing the Light… which is another Elven Christmas story… and I am reworking Theory in Depth and My Darling, Janice.

Which one would you like to know about?  Would you like an excerpt?  I need to know these things.

Life Mate to a King (book 4 of the Elven Chronicles)

Excerpt from Life Mate to a King

Tári didn’t doubt that she was in trouble.  It showed in the way Reiss spoke and how his hand trembled as he motioned with it.  His voice sounded wobbly.   She tried to do as he ordered but found herself unable to move.  She had never been so scared in her life.  She looked at the battle birds and she swore she could see her death in their eyes.  They could and would kill her with very little provocation.  She was sure of that.

Tári was so caught in the web of terror her mind had spun around itself that she never noticed when the other members of Reiss’ party joined them.  The hand that reached around her shoulder to gently remove the knife from her hand barely registered in her mind.  What did break through her self-induced paralysis were the hands and arms that turned her around before they pulled her into the safety of a possessive embrace.

“My love,” Garoldth’s voice was thick with pent up emotion.  Here in his arms he held his reason for breathing.  The mother of his daughters, his Life Mate, the one woman he would live and die for.  He would never let her out of his arms again.

Tári knew this touch and she wound her arms about Garoldth’s chest as she brought her hands up to curl around his shoulders.  She inhaled the scent of her Life Mate and caressed the outline of his chest with her cheek.  He had come back for her.  With eyes filled with tears of joy she cried out for her love.

“Garoldth.”

A heartbeat later their lips merged.  They held tight to each other, as if they were afraid they would be forced to part again.

“Wow,” Branith gave a soft whistle in awe.  “As the designated cupid I am sure I should be taking notes.  Anyone care to time this?”

Helix grinned as he watched the reunion while Calix smacked Branith on the back of the head.  Reiss grinned as he wrapped an arm around Nyra’s shoulders and drew her closer so he could tuck her against his side.

“I believe we can safely assume our father has found his Life Mate.”

“I have no more doubts as to how he managed to father twelve sons either.”  Branith added as he ignored Calix’s hit.  He added.  “Almost forgot.  Two daughters.  Any of you meet your sisters yet, or at least see them.”

“Not yet.”  Eanor admitted with a show of interest.

“Beautiful girls.  Warning, don’t ever cross Aredhel.  Even Demons run from that Elf.  Gilraen is the polar opposite.  She is the sweetest maiden you could ever meet.”  Branith informed them.

Guest post with T.M. Franklin

About T.M. Franklin

T.M. Franklin started out her career writing non-fiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. After writing and unsuccessfully querying a novel that she now admits, “is not that great,” she decided to follow the advice of one of the agents who turned her down—write some more and get better at it. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days.

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Mike, is mom to two boys, Justin and Ryan, and has an enormous black dog named Rocky who’s always lying nearby while she’s writing. Whether he’s soothed by the clicking of the computer keys or just waiting for someone to rub his belly is up for debate.

In addition to MORE, Franklin penned the Amazon best-selling short story, Window, as well as another short story, A Piece of Cake, which appears in the Romantic Interludes anthology. The sequel to MORE, The Guardians, will be released in the fall of 2013.

About MORE

Ava Michaels used to think she was special.

As a child, she fantasized about having magical powers . . . making things happen. But Ava grew up and eventually accepted the fact that her childish dreams were just that, and maybe a normal life wasn't so bad after all.

Now a young college student, Ava meets Caleb Foster, a brilliant and mysterious man who’s supposed to help her pass physics, but in reality has another mission in mind. What he shows Ava challenges her view of the world, shaking it to its very core.

Because Caleb isn't quite what he seems. In fact, he's not entirely human, and he's not the only one.

Together, the duo faces a threat from an ancient race bound to protect humans, but only after protecting their own secrets—secrets they fear Ava may expose. Fighting to survive, Ava soon learns she's not actually normal . . . she's not even just special.

She's a little bit more.

About The Guardians: Book Two in the MORE Trilogy
(Coming Fall 2013)

Ava’s life is . . . complicated.
After all, it’s not every day a girl learns she’s not entirely human, or unlocks hidden powers strong enough to make even the First Race sit up and take notice. After surviving an attempted kidnapping and standing up to the Race’s Ruling Council, Ava Michaels returns to college and what she hopes is a normal life. But Ava quickly realizes that for her, normal may not even exist anymore.
In fact, the Council wants her under their control, and they’re not the only ones. The mysterious Rogues have a plan of their own, and it turns out Ava’s a big part of it, whether she wants to be or not.
On top of that, her new relationship is tested in ways she never expected. Her boyfriend, Caleb Foster, has disappeared—accused of betraying the Race—and Ava herself stands implicated in a crime she didn’t commit.
Clearing their names will mean uncovering a web of deceit and intrigue with Ava woven right in the center. To unravel the strands, she joins forces with some unlikely allies; a Protector who once haunted her nightmares, a young girl with secrets as unexpected as Ava’s, and a group of rebel Guardians who have their own fight against the Council.
Together they stand in a battle to find the truth, bring Caleb home, and secure Ava’s freedom—not to mention save her life.

How Do You Find the Time?

Like many writers, I spend a lot of time on social media—Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Pinterest. You name it and I have an account, although I use each of them to varying degrees. I came across a post in a daily update from one of them (I can’t remember which at the moment) entitled, “How Do You Find Time to Write?” It made me stop for a moment, mid keystroke, because it’s something I’m often asked, and something I’ve been particularly contemplating lately.

It’s easy to get caught up in the marketing machine of pushing a book—promotional campaigns, giveaways, discount days, review requests—and let the actual writing fall to the wayside, something to do tomorrow when the To Do list has dwindled to a manageable level.

But the fact of the matter is, when it comes to writing, I’m most successful not when I find time to write, but when I make time to write. Back when I started my first novel, MORE, I almost didn’t. I had signed up for National Novel Writing Month in November of 2011. NaNoWriMo, if you’re not familiar with it, is a commitment to write a novel of 50,000 words in one month. That’s 1,667 words a day. And you’re supposed to write each and every day.

Well, October 31st rolled around and my outline still wasn’t complete, but I decided to forge ahead and start writing anyway. Long story short, I made the 50,000 words (actually closer to 65,000) by making myself write at least 1,667 words each and every day. I never missed a day. I finished MORE early in 2012, and it was published that October, less than a year since I started it. None of that would have happened if I hadn’t jumped in with both feet and just made myself write.

Now, I know that it’s easier said than done. Like many indie-published writers I have a husband. I have kids. I have another job. I have a life that demands I pay attention to it and doesn’t always appreciate me retreating to my world of imaginary people.

But if you love doing something—whether it’s writing, drawing, music, or model train building—don’t wait for real life to calm down enough so you have time to do it. Take a little time on a regular basis—maybe not every day, but an hour a week? Twice a week? And let yourself do what you love. Make yourself do what you love. Make it a priority.

Because let’s face it, unless you’re Cinderella, dreams don’t come true unless you make them.

How do you find the time to do the things you love? Share your suggestions in the comments!

Spotlight & Giveaway with Nikki Rae

Blurb:

18 year old Sophie Jean is pretty good at acting normal. Sure, she’s not exactly happy, but happiness is nothing compared to being like everyone else. She can pretend she’s not allergic to the sun. She can hide what her ex-boyfriend did to her. She can cover up the scars she’s made for herself. Ignore anything. Forget anything. Then Myles enters her life, and he has more than a few secrets of his own. When accident after accident keeps happening to Sophie, she can’t help noticing that he’s everywhere. That he knows too much. That she’s remembering too much.

It’s one thing covering up her own dark past, but does she really need to worry about people finding out just how much Myles likes her? Or that despite how much she doesn’t want to repeat past mistakes, she kind of likes him back? Not to mention the fact that she now has to conceal that Myles drinks blood-that he says he’s about four hundred years old.

She almost forgot about that part.

But Sophie has no plans to ruin the normal life she has created for herself. She can deal with this little glitch, no problem. Even if word has gotten around to the wrong vampire about Sophie and Myles, even if she’s putting the few people she loves at risk. Suddenly, those who were monsters before are just people, and the monsters? They’re real. Now being a normal human being is the least of her problems. Now she has to stay alive.

Here's an excerpt from Sunshine:

             “I’m dead.”
Oh no, maybe his mom is mad at him for disappearing, or he’s done something and now he’s in trouble.  “Did something bad happen?” I ask.
He looks at me like I’m speaking Japanese. “No. You don’t understand.”
“C’mon, it can’t be that bad. What did you do?”
“Sophie.” He sits down next to me and doesn’t take his eyes away. “I mean I’m not alive.”
“What?” is all I can manage. “What do you mean, like…” I trail off. I’m trying to figure out if he’s attempting to make some sort of elaborate metaphor or if he literally means he’s dead. Which is insane.
Myles stands and resumes with the pacing. He rubs the back of his neck with his hand. “A while ago,” he starts. “Something happened to me. Someone killed me.”

Blurb:

Sophie’s life has changed. She’s moved to New York, she’s playing music for new people, and she’s making new friends. Then there’s Myles, and the fact that he is now her boyfriend—and everyone knows it. There are a lot of new things to take in, but Sophie has no problem adjusting.

She’s not exactly normal, living in a half-human, half-vampire world, but she’s finally, truly happy. But some parts of Sophie and Myles’ old life still hide in the dark, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

Sophie’s having nightmares again, but they aren’t about her; Myles is hiding something that she’s not sure she wants to know.

And one lie will change everything.

No matter how hard she tries to cover up the marks her monsters have left behind, they never truly go away, and Myles’ monsters are no different.
Once again, Sophie’s caught between life and death, but this time, only she can save herself.

~Let's talk about SEX, Remedy Maker & A Giveaway with Sheri Fredricks!~

© DancesWithLight-Flickr

sex, n.
1. facts of life, Inf. birds and the bees; coitus, sexual intercourse, coition, copulation, fornication, congress, consummation, commerce, union, conjugation, conjunction; coupling, mating, making love, Sl. getting it on, Sl. doing it, Sl. going to bed.

Taken from the Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/) :

Sex is like math: you add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs and pray you don’t multiply!

And lastly, depending on which side you belong:

Woman: To make sweet passionate love to your soul mate. Elevating each other's bodily experiences to a new level.

Man: What to do when you’re not watching sports.

Multiple Orgasms!
Hey! Do I have your attention NOW?

It’s the main goal to be achieved. The mountain we climb, and the thrill we seek to peak. We’re not as visually stimulated as our male counterparts. A touch in the right place, in the right way will do.

In my award winning Erotic Fantasy Romance REMEDY MAKER, Rhycious and Patience have their own special moment….

*~*~*EXCERPT*~*~*

Slight in Wood Nymph stature, she bore his weight between her thighs and walked her heels up to the small of his back. A virgin days before, Patience was a quick study and a bold lover.

A prize any honorable Centaur stallion would cherish. And fall in love with.

Patience giggled, her fingers combed through his hair. "And how will we do that?"

"By letting my rise…shine." He slid his hands under her hips and raised her up to meet the thrust of his human body.

The smooth entry revealed her readiness for him, of which he thanked the gods. Hot, wet, and tight hugged his length.

"Ooh!" Patience's eyes glazed over. Her inner muscles gripped his cock in warm welcome, like a firm handshake. He closed his eyes, afraid he'd frighten her when she saw how they'd rolled back with his pleasure.

For a moment, Rhycious held her still, allowing her body time to adjust and himself time to regain control. Slowly he moved again, enjoying the sensation of utter bliss and contentment. Spirals of heat spread from where they connected, passing from him into her.

Rhycious steadily increased his speed until he was pumping into her with an energized force. When her gasping escalated to a continuous moan, he snapped his eyes open to watch her fall apart under him. He doubled his efforts, groaning with strain, nearing his peak. Glancing down between them, he witnessed the beauty of his long shaft plunging in and out of her. Dark hair surrounding his hardness, her smooth skin receiving him.

Cupping her breast, he kissed and laved her nipple, giving it a few hard sucks. "I lose myself over needing you," he whispered.

Her breath came hard, but she managed to choke out, "You probably say that…to all the females."

I only wish that were true. "Just you," he panted. "This is nothing like anything I've ever felt before."

"I'm confuzzled with your understandwich."

It means the bog is quickly sucking me under—and I love every moment of it.

His lower half had taken over thinking for his upper half, making it impossible for him to comment. Long, slow assaults became quick and hard, driving her body deeper into the mattress.

Patience moaned loudly with each powerful stroke. "Uh, uh, ohh…"

His senses staggered. Utterly consumed with desire for her, fever licked through his body.

Her eyes, large and liquid, burned with mutual abandon. Cries of her pleasure and the push of her hips matched him, thrust for thrust. Squeezed by her inner muscles pulsating in ecstasy, he peaked the crest of the mountain.

Unable to hold back, Rhycious gathered Patience close to his heart and shouted her name, flooding her with his love. Each squeeze of her orgasm tightened like a heavenly fist around his cock, and he spurted a little more love. Her quivers continued until she lay boneless beneath him, having taken all he could give.

Except for the part of me I can't give her. Patience deserves better.
