Escape the Doubt Blog Tour

Escape the Doubt Blog Tour Banner Synopsis
After the unexpected death of her Dad and the haunting manner in which he died Riley Shaw built invisible walls around her heart. Barriers she created to protect her from splintering into broken pieces that couldn’t be repaired. She was unable to move forward from her past letting the guilt of her parent’s mistakes dictate her own choices.
Dean Warren was safe. Being with him was innocent and peaceful because she didn’t truly love him. His words held her captive in a false sense of security. His eyes were deceptive and his promises of never pushing her beyond what she was willing to give were broken leaving Riley Shaw in a state of regret and doubt.
Joshua Parker had the power to take what was left of Riley’s splintered pieces and ruin her completely or make her whole again. He was her best friend, her next-door neighbor - everything she wanted and settled on never having. Loving him was as easy as breathing air. The fear of losing him forever was more real to her than the feelings she couldn’t escape.
When faced with the very thing she feared the most and in the arms she thought were safe Riley finds herself questioning every decision she has made over the past two years. When she finally escapes the doubt in her head and accepts the truth in her heart is it too late?
Is taking a chance with your heart worth the escape or was it better to have never loved at all? Can forgiveness really set you free?
*Warning: This is a mature young adult novel. Recommended for readers 17+ due to underage drinking, sexual content and adult language.

Excerpt
At school Dean approached me sitting on the bench.
“You look so sad, Riley.” He said.
I shrugged, “well, I am.” I replied truthfully.
He sighed. Probably thinking vainly that it was all about him, his ego getting a boost
from my evident pain.
“We have been friends for a long time, Riley. Even before we became more. We
were friends. Ya know? I miss you.” He told me as he sat down and grabbed my hand.
I inwardly cringed and recoiled away from him. However, outwardly—I did nothing.
“I know,” I said.
I didn’t miss him. I didn’t need him. In fact, I resented him. So why was it that I
rested my head on his shoulder? I’m asking myself that same thing as I stand in my
shower. Replaying that thought and the image I saw on Josh’s face when he walked by—
looking at us—as though something was there between us. There wasn’t.
I miss you, Josh.
I decide after my shower to toil without respite. I wrap myself in a towel and walk
across the hall to my bedroom. I have my head cast down, flipping through the playlist on
my iPod settling on, Wish you were here by Incubus. I kick the door closed with my foot
and walk into my closet.
“We need to talk,” a voice says from my bed. I jump, dropping my iPod on the floor
and nearly losing my towel as well. I step out of my closet, stand in the middle of my
room, and narrow my eyes at my best friend. Ex-best friend? Preslee’s baby daddy? Ugh!
“Damn it, Josh. You scared the crap out of me. What are you doing here?” He drags
his eyes lazily up and down my body before narrowing them on my face.
“I just told you. We need to talk. You won’t answer your fucking phone, or return
my calls, or talk to me at school. So, here I am,” he says dryly.
“Um, if you haven’t noticed I’m kind of naked here. I uh, can you like shut your eyes
so I can put my clothes on? Then we can talk?” I ask him feigning exasperated, when
actually I’m feeling flushed and nervous as hell. I’ve missed him, his nearness, his voice,
and those eyes.
The way he is looking at me. It’s so intense; I can’t help but feel affected.
He stands, and walks towards me. For every step he takes, I take one away, until my
back is pressed to my shut bedroom door. He is standing so close to me, I can feel his
breath whisper along my cheek. He puts his hands on opposite sides of my head of the
door, caging me in. He is looking down at me with such heat in his eyes that I don’t know
what to make of any of this.
“I noticed,” is all he says on a growl.
He trails his fingers along my cheek, down my throat, to my collarbone, where he
pauses, and looks up into my shocked eyes.
“Your pulse is racing, Riley. Am I making you uncomfortable?” He asks, in a voice
that is almost foreign.
I shake my head back and forth, “no, yes, no. I’m confused.” I sigh, and look down.
He tilts my chin up with his index finger. I keep my eyes cast downward, not wanting to
look into his eyes. If I look into those hazel eyes, I am afraid of what I will see. Of what it
will do to me.
“I see that, Riley. Look at me.” His voice is soft, but demanding. I don’t want to look
at him, but I can’t get my body to listen to my brain. I feel possessed. I meet his eyes just
as a tear rolls down my cheek, and then another and another. Damn it. I am so weak. I
can’t do this.
He watches my tears fall, and drags the pad of his thumb under my eyes to wipe
them away. I can’t stop them from falling.
He seems just as lost as me in this moment, looking back and forth at each of my
eyes. Studying me. Breaking me. “I’m sorry, baby.” He rests his forehead on mine, his
dirty blonde hair tickling my eyes.
I begin to shake uncontrollably. “I… I… I can’t do this, Josh. You need to leave,
please. Please, leave me alone.” I stutter as I tremble.
“I can’t. I can’t leave you alone.” His eyes flick to my mouth, and very slowly he
places his left hand on the door and raises his right hand to my face. He slowly pads his
thumb along my bottom lip that is quivering now.
I can’t help but shut my eyes and let my head fall back to the door. I feel dizzy. My
breaths are coming shallowly, and my heartbeat feels like a marching band has taken up
residence inside my chest. Thumping so loudly, that I know he has to hear it. I’m losing
control. I want him to stop, to never stop. What is wrong with me?
He lowers his head to my shoulder, his breath so hot on my neck. “Riley?” He moves
his hand away from my lips and is now tickling his fingers up and down my arm, leaving
a tingling sensation and goose bumps in there path.
“Hmm?” I didn’t know what to say anymore.
He slowly lifts his head, dragging his nose along my cheek until our lips are almost
touching. His mouth is only a breath apart from my own. I see a million emotions shadow
his eyes as he looks down at my face. His breath is minty and tantalizing me. He presses
his chest into my own, causing me to gasp. I look into his eyes, locking into a silent
debate of will. He wraps his hand around the nape of my neck, his other hand cups my
cheek, and I am certain he is about to kiss me. I don’t have the strength, or desire to stop
him.
If I lean in, we would kiss. One last taste would put me in my coffin. Be my poison.
I’m addicted to his poison, though. I want it on my tongue, inside my mouth. Kiss me.
He doesn’t kiss me, though. He steps back, and stares at me for the longest time.
“I’m sorry. I can’t think straight with you like that. I’ll shut my eyes so you can put
clothes on, and then we need to talk.” He says, gesturing to my towel wrapped body, and
turns his back to me. It’s not up for question. We are going to talk.
I dress quickly in white shorts and a teal camisole. My mind is reeling of airing all of
this with him. What was he going to say? How would I respond in hearing it? What
should I say?
I walk over to my bed where he is sitting with his elbows rested on his knees, his
head in the palms of his hands. I place my hand on his shoulder, and he looks up at me
with wary eyes. I place my body in between his legs looking down at him.
His eyes are indecisive and full of worry. I rub my index finger along his brow line
to smooth it. “Do you remember when things used to be so easy between us? When we
used to laugh together? When you would climb through that window just to annoy me?” I
ask looking at the glass that holds so many good memories.
Tears are brimming his eyes, “I remember every fucking minute ever spent with you,
Riley.”
He interlaces our fingers, watching mesmerized as he does. I look at our intertwined
hands and back to his face. I bite my lip nervously. His eyes look to my lips and then
back to my eyes.
“Are you getting back together with Dean?” He asks abruptly.
My mouth falls open in shock. What’s he smoking? For real? Seriously! Like, I
would ever do that. Doesn’t he realize any of this?

Goodreads Blurb:
Erin Porter is a 36 year old pediatric surgeon. Past heartbreaks have left her guarded and obtuse toward all things love and relationship related. She has plenty of boy toys to scratch her “itch” when needed but does not have, nor is she looking for anything serious or long term. At least not until Josh and Mike enter her life.
She meets them both around the same time but one is sensitive and affectionate while the other is sensual and passionate. Meeting them both cause her to examine not only what she wants but who she is.
She sets out on a quest to discover her truest self in the hope of overcoming her past and determining with whom she will step into her future. Both men stand by her through some very difficult times but who will be beside her when she faces the greatest challenge of her life? Will it be Joshua with his strong, quiet sensitivity or will it be Mike with his passion and zeal for life? Erin struggles to decide between what her heart needs and what her body craves but fate steps in and tips the scales.

My Review:
A good story with various original elements that'll surely draw any fans of the genre right into its pages!

Erin is in her 30's, successful and very...unfulfilled. She's had dreams, goals and various expectations of herself but left them all just sit and stew after experiencing a couple of traumatizing events in her life. Now she's caught in a love triangle and has been newly awaken in many ways. Erin has some serious decisions and changes to make, but can she actually do them all?

By the way the book ended, it seems as if this is to be the first of a series. I'm not sure if it's a cliffhanger per say because all of the main aspects were all covered. It's just one of those endings that leave a lot to the readers imagination...

Review The Enlightening (Mackenzie Duncan Series, #2) by Adrianne James

Goodreads Blurb:
Mackenzie Duncan found out that pack life wasn’t for her. Now she is running for the second time in the six months since she was bitten and turned into a Werewolf. But this time, she isn’t alone. This time, she has Geoff and Liam with her, two very hot Werewolves vying for her heart.

But her companions aren't her focus. The only thing she can focus on is getting far from her old pack and their murderous ways. Only, she doesn’t just want to run. She wants to warn every pack she can that their lives are in danger too. No one should be turned against their will like she was and no other pack should have to surrender to the ideas of a centuries old, power hungry woman.

Not only does Mackenzie have to deal with her crazy ex-pack leader sending people out to kill her, she has to keep both men at arm’s length (and that proves to be much more difficult than she thought), but she finds out more about her own life and heritage than she ever thought imaginable.

And suddenly, everything makes sense...

My Review:
The Enlightening continued right from where The Tempering left off and was just as much fun and as exciting. Actually, it was even more so! It also contains a surprise or two for readers... Any fans of the genre will enjoy their time spent with this book.

Mackenzie is not only living a brand new life with too many changes to name. She's caught dead center in the middle of a love triangle and finds it virtually impossible to choose between the two men that have become an important part of her life. Both males are her best friends and both hold a large piece of her heart. But only one does things to her that cannot be denied...

We are left with various things to ponder and an ending I am itching to see continue, I just hope all finally falls in place for Mackenzie and were's everywhere!

Yearning Cover Reveal by Ashlynne Laynne

Author: Ashlynne Laynne
Series: The Progeny Series
A Blood Reborn Companion Novel
Release Date: Spring 2014
Publisher: Q-Rotic Press
Cover Art: Wicked Muse Productions
Genre: Romance
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Vampire, Witch, Interracial

YEARNING: A BLOOD REBORN NOVEL
“Destiny will not be denied.”

Like their siblings, Katy McCutchin—a powerful double Wiccan with otherworldly powers—and Gabe Rousseau—a full-blooded vampire—are destined. They’ve conquered many obstacles to be together. With their relationship at a crossroads and chaos erupting all around them, it’s time to take the steps that will finally link them for eternity.

About Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane
Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane is a songwriter, poet and author of erotic paranormal and contemporary romance, who has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny.

She loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book six of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Alterity Series, and several novella spin offs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow her online on Twitter. Check out her Manic Readers page, Blog and Website, or leave a note in her Reader Email.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son.

About The Progeny Series
At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love. The fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.

All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus.

This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen. The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that has existed for ages. This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults, as it contains adult sensuality, language and themes.

Guest post with J.S. Wayne

Reader Love

By J.S. Wayne

You know, I had a dozen different ideas for this blog post, and I rejected every one of them. I just couldn’t seem to get my head right. Luckily for me, our lovely host was patient with my freak-out-ishness while I settled down enough to get something worth posting together. And here’s what I finally came up with.
The most important people in a writer’s life, after family, friends, and lovers (and not necessarily in this order) are readers. Reviewers are great, editors are awesome, and of course we wouldn’t be where we are without publishers who liked our work enough to take a chance on us. But without readers, authors don’t mean a damn thing.

Of course, you can argue, and I sometimes do, that the converse is true: Without new authors trying new things, what would readers do? You’d be stuck with Dickens and Salinger. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with that, how many times could you read David Copperfield without wanting to try out that brand-new Mossberg twelve-gauge?

But that’s kinda not the point here. At least, not right now. The point is that writers need readers to make it worthwhile to write. If I didn’t have people who read my work and say, “This story made me really feel something!” I’d have to (shudder) get a “real job.” It’s those people who look at my work for the first time and take a chance, or the diehard fans who’ve known me since I first started at The House That Must Not Be Named, that are the whole reason I get up in the morning and do what I do. And sometimes, it’s the unknown but amazing folks who put in a writer’s name for something the author never expected…but that blow the author completely away.

So, to thank my readers, old and new, I can put out a blast on social media. I can get all teary-eyed and go cry in a corner. It seems to me, though, that the best way to thank all my readers and fans is to work on getting the next book out. If you believe in me enough to read my work, then I believe in you enough to write something else that I hope you’ll love just as much.

It’s how authors show love to readers, folks!

Thank you so much to A.R. for letting me come over and hang out today, and to you awesome readers for taking the time to spend a little while with me. I hope you’ll enjoy the sexy little excerpt I brought for your reading pleasure from The Gael and the Goddess, my brand-new release from Changeling Press!
Even the heart of a goddess is subject to the whims of fate…

Every millennium, the Ocean Goddess, Yemala, makes a pilgrimage to the shore to continue good relations between land and wave. Leaving her watery realm in the hands of her Chancellor, the nymph Amphichrale, she travels to the surface for the first time in a thousand years. A lot has changed since she last surfaced, and the goddess immediately finds herself in the clutches of the mortal law... and unable to use her oceanic powers.

Liam McGrue is a hard-headed, hard-drinking, hardworking fisherman. He asks nothing of life but an easy catch during the day and a warm fire and a glass of whiskey at night. The fiery redhead who claims to have come from the sea itself intrigues him, and his rash, poetic Gaelic heart jumps to her defense and aid. But when he realizes she's not daft or telling him a tale, that she really is who and what she claims to be, Liam will have to choose between his lonely life on the surface and a completely new existence beneath the waves as the consort of a goddess.

A flash of scarlet from the tiny, rocky arm thrusting into the harbor caught his eye, and he turned to get a better look. Aside from the navigation lights, there was little color to be seen on the coast. The rocks were a uniform greenish gray, slick with moss and spray, pretty enough to look at in the sunset, to be sure, but certainly nothing of that particular color was usually present.

He frowned as he got a good look, and blinked. Thinking his eyes must be sporting him, he picked up the binoculars from their perch beside the wheel. Quickly he turned the thumbscrew to adjust the focus. The apparition blurred for a moment and then reappeared in sharp, clear definition.

His jaw dropped.

He'd never seen the likes of the woman about town before, he'd gladly swear to that in the village church. More to the point, he'd never seen a woman pacing placidly along the small promontory wearing only what attire God saw fit to send her into the world in, striding along like she hadn't a care in the world about what anyone might think.

Oh, she was a pretty one, right enough. Her proudly erect carriage bespoke a woman who had nothing to be ashamed of, a fact Liam could appreciate in more ways than one. Her breasts jutted out, just full and round enough without being too much of a good thing, and her belly offered the exact right amount of curve to look like she'd be right pleasant to curl up with on a chilly Irish night. Her buttocks and hips flared enough to give a man ideas, and her legs looked strong enough to wrap around a man and hold on until he begged her for mercy. A belt of gold interlinked with some silvery metal crested in stylized waves about the top of her hips, and the jewel hanging down in front drew his eye downward whether he willed it or not. The small stripe of hair at the top and center of her thighs drove the moisture from his mouth, wishing he could only stroke it, never mind what lay beneath. Topping her luscious body, a wavy mass of vibrant red hair flowed behind her like a queen's banner, adding to her proud but not haughty carriage.

"Bloody hell," he breathed, whispering a prayer of thanks to Jesus for making him a man and then putting him in this place, at this time, to see this stunning, staggering woman.

She turned, and for a moment he could have sworn she looked right through the lenses of binoculars, through his eyes, and right into his soul. The details of her face, each one exquisite in its own right, paled to insignificance next to the force of her gaze. Her eyes glowed brightly with an inner light to put amethysts to shame. She smiled, and it was as glorious and uncomplicated an expression as he'd ever laid eyes on, a grin of pure, free-spirited delight.

With a regal tilt of her head and a wicked wink of her eye, she turned away and kept walking, her pace unhurried and calm, as if she had all eternity and beyond to get wherever she might be bound.

What on earth was that lovely creature doing here? Now that he'd seen her face clearly, he was more certain than ever he'd never seen her about Malin Head. If he had, he'd have knocked over many a strong man and stormed the gates of heaven and hell alike just for the pleasure of sharing her table for an hour.

He didn't even dare consider what sharing a bed with such a woman might be like. His pants had tightened uncomfortably just from seeing her. Laying with her, in the Biblical sense, might be just the thing to send a man to heaven in the most literal way possible.

From somewhere deep in his brain, a sober, responsible voice piped up. She might be in trouble, or hurt. She certainly shouldn't be walking about the shore starkers. Wouldn't it make just a wee bit of sense to, er, call someone, ye sad, daft, desperately horny man?
